RE: Had it up to here with irresponsible dog owners

My BIL used to let his dog run loose at the cg. On one Sat afternoon his dog comes over & takes a leak on my outdoor carpeting - BIL says "that is what you'll have when you have dogs around."
So on Sunday, packing up & getting ready to leave, the dog drops a load in BIL's site. I saw it but didn't say anything. BIL is running around barefoot & steps in the "pile". I says to him, "You'll have that when you have dogs around."
I'm like most people, & don't mind having dogs around. Just clean up after them.

RE: FM Converter for the Ipod to car radio

Thanks for all of the responses. I'm trying not to replace the radio if I can help it. It's a 12 year old Taurus with am/fm only. Other ideas??
Use one of the devices RVN'S4US suggests. It is not a new radio. It goes between the antenna & the existing radio. I had one put in my truck - works much better than the cassette or FM modulators. However it does degrade long distance AM reception.

RE: Spam vs bacon

We stopped in Austin MN a few years ago and visited Spam Museumand found it interesting. Seems no one admits to eating Spam but they manage to sell countless millions of cans of the stuff annually. My only beef with the visit was you can buy Spam at WalMart cheaper than you can in the Spam gift shop.:? ...Another thing I was a little concerned about was there was about 100 horse trailers, or so, parked across the street from the plant where it is made.... All were empty. :E
We stopped there also. If I remember right the billboard advertising the Spam Museum had a quote something like "Why not stop IT'S FREE". We stopped and dropped about $50 in the gift shop. My kids love spam.

RE: Why?

I was reading some "rv tips". One of them was to put a cup of fabric softner in the black and grey tanks after every 2-3 dumps. What would this do?
I believe you'll really want to use water softener, not fabric softener.

RE: Calling all Northern Campers

We store ours in an outside storage area about three miles from our house. We have never covered ours, no problems. Of the campers I see that are covered, most of the time the cover blows off. I do go inside a couple times a month to check for critters, or whatever else may be wrong.

RE: awning coverage on insurance

Isn't the awning an option? Your TT probably came with it, but it probably was really an option.

RE: snow on roof

Even if you wanted to get it off, how would you? I'd think you'd do more damage to the roof trying to get any ice & snow off. I've never removed it from ours.

RE: Inverter? English Please! Think: Electrical for Poets!

Remember, a CONverter takes 120v power from the utility company and CONverts it to 12v for use in your rig.
An INverter takes 12v power from your batteries and turns it back INto 120v power for your small household appliances.
Also every camper will have a converter - But not all have inverters. Just to simplify things, some will have an inverter that will also work as a converter.

RE: 5th wheel hitch question

I have a Reese 15K slider in my truck. I do slide the hitch every time I check into a campground - don't have to worry whether I need to slide, or not.
I also haul 2400lb skids of wood pellets with the truck. I remove the hitch & slider portion of hitch, leaving the mounting brackets in the bed of the truck. If they load the skids in your truck the same way they load mine, the mounting brackets will be a problem. Here they place the skid in the truck & push it the rest of the way in, getting caught up on the rails. My simple fix was to put a piece of plywood, with 2x2s screwed to it to space it over the mounting brackets - in the truck when picking up pellets or anything else for that matter. Stuff slides in nice & smooth now!!

RE: Tripping GFI receptacles

Do you have in inverter? Many tire the neutral and ground which will trip a GFI.
Well when I had my problem I didn't have an inverter, but the neutral & ground where shorted together in the breaker box. Bending the ground lead away from the neutral bus bar fixed the problem. Took a long time to find the problem though.

Look for the secret code "TT-30R" - should be on the package. It designates a 30 amp travel trailer receptacle.

RE: Looking for feedback on CG's in and near Door Co Wisconsin

We haven't camped in Door County for a couple years, but our favorite is Door County Camping Resort. It is far enough up that you can use it as a base & explore. Always well run & kept nice and clean.
Another good choice is Bay Shore County Park, only problem is it is in Brown County & a long drive to explore Door County.

RE: Power problems

Check the connections to the breaker. Loose connections cause heat & heat is what causes the breaker to trip.

RE: interim storage for 5er during TV breakdown?

Explain the circumstances & offer to rent a spot to store the 5er at the Best Western for a night or two. Or find a local RV dealer to move your 5er.

RE: BioDiesel

Have a friend at work that has been running his homemade biodiesel in his '04
Duramax since new. He can't use the biodiesel in winter because of gelling problems. Only problems he has are occasional clogged fuel filters. He collects his "fuel" from several local restaurants. He says it is getting harder to find sources, since the biodiesel thing is catching on.
